Your own domain and hosting
Put a site on yourbrand.com by adding a few DNS records, on Pro, Ultra, or with $15 a month hosting for a single site.
Every site starts on a free byqsite.com address. When you are ready, connect a domain you already own and the site is served there, with HTTPS handled for you. Your own domain never shows the “Built with BYQ” badge.
What covers a domain
- Pro: 1 site on your own domain.
- Ultra: 5 sites on your own domain.
- Free: none, but you can host a single site for $15 a month on any plan. The hosting also lets that site hide the badge.
Each site connects one domain. Connecting a root domain such as yourbrand.com brings its www version along, which redirects to the root. If your plan's included slots are in use, the panel says so and offers Host this site · $15/mo instead. Compare plans on the pricing page.
Connect a domain
- Publish your site first so you can see it working (see Publish and keep a free site online).
- In the Publish panel, open Custom domain and choose Connect a domain you own.
- Enter the domain, for example www.yourbrand.com.
- Add the records the panel lists at the company that manages your domain's DNS (usually your registrar).
- Wait, then let the panel re-check.
The DNS records
The panel shows the exact records in a Type, Name, Value table, with a copy button for each value.
- Root domain (yourbrand.com): an A record for @ pointing to 76.76.21.21, plus a CNAME for www pointing to cname.vercel-dns.com.
- Subdomain (www.yourbrand.com, shop.yourbrand.com): a CNAME with the subdomain as its name, pointing to cname.vercel-dns.com.
- TXT record: when ownership is not yet proven, the panel lists one or more TXT records first. Add them exactly as shown. The TXT record proves the domain is yours.
If your DNS provider is recognised, the panel names it, links to its DNS settings and adds a tip. Common ones: GoDaddy and Namecheap add default records that must be edited or deleted rather than duplicated. On Cloudflare, set each record to DNS only (grey cloud) or the certificate cannot be issued. The panel also tells you per record whether to add, edit or delete, for example to remove an old AAAA record that sends visitors to the previous site.
What the status means
- Verify ownership: add the TXT record.
- Waiting for DNS: the records are not right yet. DNS changes can take a few minutes to an hour.
- Securing: the DNS is right and the HTTPS certificate is being set up, usually a minute or two.
- Switching over: the domain is moving to your site, usually under a minute.
- Live: done. Your own computer may show the old page for up to an hour, so check in a private window or on your phone.
- Couldn't check: try the check again in a moment.
Good to know
- While your domain is live, your byqsite.com address stays reachable but is hidden from search engines, so the domain is the one that ranks.
- Domains such as byqsite.com, byq.supply and vercel.app cannot be connected.
- A domain can only belong to one site. If it is already on another site, disconnect it there first.
Disconnect or cancel
Disconnect stops the domain showing your site right away. The site stays online at its byqsite.com address. Cancelling the $15 a month hosting means no further charge. The hosting stays live until the end of the period you paid for, with no refund for the rest of it, and you can resume it before then.
When your plan ends
If your plan no longer covers a domain, you get an email (“Keep yourbrand.com live”) and 14 days. The site stays live on the domain until the end of that time, then moves back to its byqsite.com address, which stays free. The domain stays in the site's settings, so you can reconnect it by upgrading or hosting just that site for $15 a month. When a plan shrinks, the oldest sites keep their domains (for example Ultra 5 to Pro 1).
