Publish, and keep a free site online

Publishing is one click on every plan, Free included, and a Free site stays online as long as you keep using BYQ.
Works with
  • BYQ Website Builder

Your site goes live on a free your-site.byqsite.com address. You only need a confirmed email. Publishing is a static export, so the live site is fast and needs no server.

Before you publish
  • Confirm your email. If you have not, the Publish panel says “Confirm your email address to publish.” Check your inbox, and your spam folder too. Choose Didn't get it? Send it again for a fresh link.
  • Site not archived or taken down. An archived site must be restored first. A site taken down for breaking the terms cannot be published; contact support if you think that is a mistake.
Publish
  1. Open the Publish panel.
  2. Under Choose where to publish, pick Staging (your byqsite.com address) or, once a domain is connected, Production (your own domain). Choose Publish to production for the domain.
  3. Wait for the progress steps to finish. The panel shows Updated with the time, or Changes not published when you have edits that are not live yet.
Your address

The address is your site name under Website address. Use 3 to 40 letters, numbers or dashes. If a name is taken, BYQ adds a number such as -2. If you pick a name someone else has, you see “That address is taken”.

What BYQ checks while publishing
  • The site needs a home page that has been built.
  • Links to pages that do not exist and images without alt text are listed as warnings.
  • Secret keys in your code stop the publish: “Your site contains secret keys that would be public once it is live. Ask the agent to remove them, then publish again.”
  • Forms that would not send are flagged, with a one-click Fix.
  • Draft pages are left out, and links to them lead to your 404 page until you publish them.
Share it

After publishing, use Copy link, Open site, Share on X, Share on LinkedIn, Share on WhatsApp or Share by email.

The “Built with BYQ” badge

Sites on a byqsite.com address show a small “Built with BYQ” badge in the bottom-right corner, with a Report this site link on hover. You can hide it in Settings with Hide “Built with BYQ” badge on Ultra, or on any plan once the site has its own hosting. Your own domain never shows it. This is checked again at every publish.

Take a site offline

Click the unpublish control in the Publish panel and click again to confirm: “Click again to take the site offline”. Your site stays saved in the builder and you can publish it again any time. If your custom domain is live, unpublish the domain first or unpublish everything.

Keeping a Free site online

Free sites stay online while you use BYQ. If you have no activity for 30 days you get an email, and the site goes offline after 37 days. Logging in and opening your site in the builder is enough to reset it. A site that goes offline keeps its address and you can publish it again. Sites on a paid plan, and sites with their own hosting, never go offline for inactivity. See Emails and troubleshooting for the emails you will receive.
