Build with your own AI tool

This is the way to build that uses none of your BYQ AI tokens, and you skip the ten setup questions. You connect the AI tool you already use, tell it what you want, and watch your site change in the BYQ editor as it works. Your own AI plan pays for the thinking.

What you need

• An AI tool that supports MCP: the Claude app, Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, or another MCP tool.
• A BYQ account. Any plan works for building. Publishing needs Pro or Ultra, or hosting for that site.

Connect it in three steps

1. In the editor, choose Connect your own AI Agent via MCP, or open the connection steps for your tool on the Connecting your AI tool page.
2. Add BYQ to your tool and sign in with your BYQ account. The Claude app, Claude Code, Cursor and Codex ask you to approve on a BYQ page, so there is no key to copy.
3. On the approval page, keep Build sites ticked. Without it your tool can use the library but cannot work on your sites.

When it works, the editor shows Your AI Agent is connected via MCP, and while your tool is busy you see Your AI is editing this site. The exact setup for each tool, including the address to add, lives on one page so it stays correct: Connecting your AI tool.

What to ask

• “Build me a website for my business: …”
• “Rewrite the homepage for my business: …”
• “Add a pricing page with 3 plans and link it in the menu.”
• “Switch to a dark theme and check every page.”
• “Check it on mobile and fix anything that looks off.”

A new site starts from a BYQ template. Your tool can list your sites, create one from a template, read and write files, manage pages, set the theme, add sections from the library, check pages with screenshots, restore earlier versions and publish. Because there are no setup questions, tell your tool the basics in your first message: what the business is, who it is for and the tone you want.

Cost and limits

• No BYQ AI tokens. Building is free on every plan.
• A daily limit on how long a site stays open. A site opened from your tool stays open for up to 3 hours a day on Free, 12 on Pro and 24 on Ultra. Past that you see a message saying you reached the limit for your plan, and you can try again later or upgrade.
• Speed limits. If your tool is told to slow down, wait about a minute and it carries on.

Publishing

Publishing a site built from your own AI tool needs Pro or Ultra, or hosting for that site at $15 a month. Using the editor on the same site

You can open the same site in the editor at any time and use the free tools: click to edit, the Style panel, Pages and History. Some changes need BYQ's own assistant. Your tool tells you “This change needs BYQ's own AI” and makes the edit in the code instead. See The editor at a glance and Library mode or site mode.
